How does compressing to a target size work?
The tool tries different quality levels to find the highest quality that stays under your target. If even a fairly low quality is still too big, it reduces the image dimensions step by step until it fits, so text and faces stay as clear as possible.
Will the result be exactly my target size?
It will be at or just under your target — never over it. For example, a 100 KB target usually produces a file between about 90 and 100 KB.
Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser using the HTML canvas API — your photo is never sent to TripleW Tools or anywhere else.
Why is PNG not offered as an output format?
PNG is lossless, so its size can't be tuned with a quality setting. To hit an exact size target the tool saves as JPEG (best for photos) or WebP (often smaller at the same quality).
Need a specific size? Try the 20KB, 50KB or 100KB compressor, or the quality-based Image Compressor.
